Brian Alvey Double Bass Bow

Brian Alvey Double Bass Bow

Sold

For those of you seeking a bow of great quality and tradition then look no further than this superb bow that was hand-crafted by Brian Alvey around 1990. Alvey joined the great violin and bow making firm of W.E. Hill & Sons in 1966, leaving it in 1978 around about the time when the Hanwell workshops were closed and the firm in its entirety was transferred to Great Missenden. Although this particular bow was made after his departure, it is clearly made on the same Tourte inspired model and to the same exacting standards that were demanded by Hills.

We particularly love the superb choice of long-grained pernambuco, the beautifully carved Tourte style head and chamfers and the wonderfully precise frog and silver work.

This is a bow that has super-precise Hill-tradition looks, superb Hill-tradition playing qualities and having been kept as an investment piece in a bow box since new, it is offered in absolutely mint condition.
