A Venetian rarity from the very earliest days of bass making. The numerous holes that were in the peg-box, the wide C-bouts, the wide stance of the f-holes and the remnants of a double-etched ink-line a long way in from the edge, all strongly suggest that this instrument was originally made as a five or six string violone.

The instrument has gorgeous looks and playability and of course a sound to die for.
