This fine Spanish instrument almost plays Bottesini by itself. Indeed, its former owner was none other than the Argentinian bass virtuoso Gerardo Scaglione who used the instrument on tours worldwide and many highly acclaimed recordings. These recording are easily accessible on YouTube and his first album entitled “Contrabajissimo” which is currently available on SoundCloud, is regarded as exceptional.

As with most Spanish instruments the making is a little bit quirky but the main thing to concentrate on here is the fact that the shoulders are nicely raked, the string length is short and the sound and projection are simply amazing.

In addition to the quality of the sound, the instrument has undergone a complete rebuild that has put it structurally into an exceptional condition.
