Double Bass by William Fendt London circa 1850
William Fendt died at the age of twenty. Had he lived longer his name would be as well recognised as his contemporary, John Frederick Lott 11. This is an exceedingly rare instrument of subtle great beauty and understated poise. This is an instrument that possesses the most sumptuous of tonal qualities and formidable carrying power.
In terms of provenance it is featured over five full-colour pages in the publication entitled The English Double Bass.
