5-String Double Bass by Günter Krahmer-Pöllmann, Mittenwald anno 1965

5-String Double Bass by Günter Krahmer-Pöllmann, Mittenwald anno 1965

Sold

Now well past its first half century, this non-busetto viol model was formerly the property of The Royal Danish Orchestra that is based in Copenhagen. Having been in constant use since its purchase directly from the maker as new, the instrument knows the entire orchestral and opera repertoire and it is probably a bit of an understatement to say that its “well-played-in”. Although there have been some repairs in the ribs, which our restorers think could have been done better, the front and back are in absolutely crack free condition. What is courtesy of our restorers, is a beautiful set up that consists of a reprofiled neck that provides a “D” with one’s first finger opposite the thumb, a new fingerboard and a top quality Despiau bridge and soundpost.

For somebody on a tight budget but still looking to purchase a professional quality five-stringer with an absolutely huge-quality sound, this is for sure an absolute bargain.
