During the sixties and seventies Ron Prentice built up an excellent reputation for making good sounding basses of quality and he is credited with an output of at least 50 double basses. Even though his list price was at the time and period on the hefty side, it certainly didn't diminish the demand for them from a large number and variety of players. Indeed, many Prentice basses, such as this one, have now had the benefit of being used on a daily basis in orchestras all over the world for over half a century. With a little skilful updating such as we have performed on this absolutely mint-condition example from 1967, there is little doubt that this instrument is capable of easily seeing out a second fifty years plus of fine music making.

This is an instrument that looks good, feels good in the hand and plays with a real quality sound that is full and rounded, with just the right amount of punch and projection.
